Introduction & Objectives
Established in 2017, the One Shop One School initiative is a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program designed to foster meaningful connections between retail outlets and their local communities. Recognizing schools as pivotal community hubs, the project strategically partners with government schools to reach students and parents—the group’s primary target customers. The core objective is to provide essential first-aid care support to schools while instilling a positive brand image. By facilitating continuous engagement through supply replenishment, the program aims to establish a dedicated, lasting partnership between every outlet and one nearby school, preferably within a 5km radius.
- HOW WE DELIVER
Impact & Execution
The program is executed through a structured onboarding and subsidy process. Schools are selected based on internal recommendations from Branch or Area Managers or via official requests to the Sustainability Unit. Once a school is approved and signs a confirmation letter, it is assigned to a specific pharmacy outlet . Beneficiaries receive initial comprehensive first-aid kits and ongoing subsidies for supplies, with funding levels often determined by the number of students. This sustained engagement ensures schools remain prepared for medical needs while reinforcing the pharmacy’s role as a trusted healthcare partner in the neighborhood.
Project Overview
School Selection & Activation
To initiate the 1 Shop 1 School project, our pharmacy identifies nearby primary or secondary government schools for engagement. The BIG CARING Foundation then assesses these applications, evaluating factors such as proximity and whether the schools have participated in previous programs. Once approved, a handover ceremony is organized to present the school with first aid boxes and a credit note. Schools may utilise this credit within a one-year period or until the balance is fully redeemed.
Health Education & Community Involvement
The BIG CARING Foundation promotes active collaboration between our retail outlets and the school engaged. Outlets are encouraged to facilitate value-added initiatives such as health seminars, interactive workshops, and educational activities tailored for students. Furthermore, stores are invited to support school-led functions, such as participating with fundraising stalls or informational booths, to strengthen community ties.
How does it works?
Initial Discussion
BCG representative discusses the purpose and specifics with the school principal or designated teacher.
Application Submission
The application form is submitted by the store.
Handover Ceremony
BCG representative hands over the first aid kit and related items upon arrival at the school.
Certificate Acknowledgement
The certificate is signed by the Principal or a designated school representative.
Redemption Request
The school representative asks the designated BIG/CARING store about the required items or medicines.
Subsidy Verification
The store verifies the subsidy validity period and approved amount.
Redemption & Collection
The school representative presents the Redemption Note to redeem the items and collect the required medicines or healthcare supplies.

The pharmacy representative records:

Impact & Execution
The Supply of Medicines to Indigenous or Less-fortunate Entities (SMILE) project is executed through a structured collaboration between Big Caring Group (BCG) and various non-governmental organizations (NGOs). By providing targeted medical subsidies and aid kits, SMILE directly addresses healthcare disparities in indigenous and less-fortunate communities.
