SMILE Project: Restoring Health & Hope Through Emergency Preparedness Partnerships

On 30 March 2026, under the SMILE Project – “Restoring Health & Hope”, Big Caring Foundation (BCF), Task Emergency Medical Services (TEMS), and BIG Pharmacy officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to strengthen emergency healthcare support for vulnerable communities affected by natural disasters across Malaysia.

The Supply of Medicines to Indigenous or Less-fortunate Entities (SMILE) project is a humanitarian initiative executed through a structured collaboration between Big Caring Foundation (BCF) and various non-governmental organizations (NGOs). Through targeted medical subsidies and healthcare aid, the project aims to bridge healthcare disparities among indigenous and underserved communities while ensuring timely medical assistance during emergencies.

As part of this collaboration, BIG Caring Foundation (BCF) extended a RM5,000 subsidiary credit to TEMS, enabling them to redeem essential medical supplies and medicines at BIG Pharmacy Taman Yulek. This support aims to strengthen emergency medical response efforts and improve access to critical healthcare resources for communities affected by natural disasters.

The initiative is expected to benefit more than 300 individuals, particularly victims impacted by floods, storms, and other natural disasters.

Natural disasters often disrupt access to healthcare services, leaving vulnerable families without medicines, medical attention, or emergency support. Through this partnership, TEMS will be better equipped to provide frontline emergency assistance, while BCF and BIG Pharmacy continue supporting community healthcare outreach through accessible medical resources and coordinated relief efforts.

The MOU signing ceremony marked an important step towards strengthening disaster readiness and community resilience. Representatives from BCF, TEMS, and BIG Pharmacy Taman Yulek gathered to reaffirm their shared commitment to humanitarian care, rapid emergency response, and sustainable healthcare support for underserved populations.

By combining the strengths of healthcare providers, emergency responders, and community organizations, the initiative demonstrates how collaborative action can create meaningful and lasting social impact.

Through the SMILE Project, Big Caring Foundation and its partners continue to champion compassionate healthcare access and community empowerment, ensuring that vulnerable communities receive the support they need during times of crisis and beyond.
